The medieval city of Siena is located south west of Arezzo, edging throught the Chianti. Formed by the meeting of three hills on which Siena is built, the beautiful and the famous Piazza del Campo is divided into nine sections, commemorating the council of nine who governed the town in the thirteenth century. Twice a year, in July and August, the inhabitants recreate their medieval joust organizing the famous Palio of Siena. To visit are also other important monuments of Siena as the Public Palace, the museum and the Cathedral, built in the late twelfth century.
The historic center of Siena is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can breathe deeply the charm of this medieval village, you can visit the fortresses of the Medici family, walk in the famous Piazza del Campo, where takes place every summer one of the most popular horse racing: the Palio di Siena.
