Immortalized by the verses of Carducci in his poem In front of San Guido
“I cipressi che a Bolgheri alti e schietti van da
San Guido in duplice filar..”,
this ancient village exudes a unique charm. A stone’s throw from the sea, in the countryside full of vineyards and olive groves, the country, from the exemplar architectural harmony, is characterized by red brick castle which leads to the village, paved alleys and ancient stone buildings, adorned geraniums.
Golden sunsets and flights of swallows animate the sky. Craft shops, wine bars, taverns and famous restaurants offer local products and the culinary tradition of this land, accompanied by splendid Bolgheri DOC wines.
The churches, the childhood home of the poet Carducci and the oratory of San Guido are places of great beauty. The surrounding countryside, where roads wind through magnificent greenery as the avenue of Bolgheri and Bolgheri Road, is rich in holiday farms and important equestrian farms, ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding.
